Sport is high on the agenda of the people in the Koprivnice locality. The region is home to professional premiership teams in football, ice hockey, handball and volleyball. International sporting events are held regularly in the region. The inhabitants of our region have always had a keen interest in sports which has undoubtedly been encouraged by the wide range of facilities available to them.

The region has facilities for football, ice hockey, multifunction arenas, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and athletic fields to name a few.
Downhill skiing and snowboarding, winter ski tourism, cross-country skiing and winter hiking have been well established, in the Koprivnice locality, for many years. In the region you can find 45 winter sport centres. There are 6 chair lifts and 174 tow lifts, 245 downhill slopes (total distance 117km) and 53 cross country runs (total distance 821 km). Traditional ski resorts are situated in Bila, Grun, Lomna, Javorovy vrch, Pustevny, Moravka, Velke Karlovice and Solan.
As for the latest form of recreation the region offers e.g. an airport for small air planes and gliders in Frydlant nad Ostravici. Some breeding farms, as well as smaller private stables, offer horse riding. Paragliding is becoming popular here as well. The Koprivnice locality has seven golf courses - Silherovice (18-hole course), Celadna (18-hole course), Kravare (9-hole course), Ropice (18-hole course), Ostravice (27-hole course) and Ostrava - TJ Mittal (9-hole course), Golf Arena (9-hole course).
Several water areas for recreation uses have been created in the region. The Hlucin water area, the dam, Terlicko and Zermanice, Olesna, Vetrkovice and Baska are used for windsurfing. The water area Hlucín and the dam Terlicko offer facilities for water skiing. The water areas, rivers and streams give a great opportunity for fishing.
